Family owned and operated farm for over 36 years.
Located in beautiful Mills River, NC.
The Beginning:
My father, Russ started our farm in 1988 with my mom, Karen. They moved here from Connecticut back in the 80s. (I am not a yankee, I was born here) Mom worked at the post office so it was mostly just my dad (but mom also still worked on the farm a lot still). He dabbled in shrubs and trees but primarily focused on the herbs. We also had a large vegetable and flower field that I got the honors of tending to every summer. And then every Saturday morning my dad took me to the Triangle Stop to get a danish and off we went to the Hendersonville Tailgate Market on King street where we sold our veggies and cut flowers.
Continuing:
I was born and raised on the farm, and I've always enjoyed it. Once I went to college my parents got a booth up at the WNC Farmers Market in the retail buildings. So my college summer was working the retail spot for them. It could be boring especially during the week but they paid me well. I didn't do too much in the fields then. We tried that for a few years but ultimately let go of the space. After I graduated back in 2012 I became a high school math teacher and started my side hustle at the Mills River Farmers Market.
Where we are now:
Once I became a mom I continued to teach, and farm and be a mom. I became a vendor in Brevard at the Transylvania Farmers Market sometime around 2016 and this is where I learned I could actually make some money selling flowers. As I was trying to expand the flowers, I was also becoming too busy. To simplify my life I quit teaching back in 2021 and have been working the farm full time ever since. Although I am putting more of a focus on the flowers we have continued to offer the same variety of herbs and plants that I know several of our customers have come to rely on. They wont go anywhere, especially because Dad will never retire, haha! I truly love what I do and I have so many dreams of creating farm experiences and workshops. I hope you'll continue to follow our farms evolution!
Where to find us:
