Fresh Flowers, Herbs & Succulents Grown with Love in Mills River, NC

Meet Your Local Flower-Obsessed Farmer

At Barry Farms, we grow specialty cut flowers, a wide variety of herbs, perennials, and plant starts— all nurtured with sustainable, natural practices right here in Mills River, NC. As a family-owned and operated farm, this work is a true labor of love, and we’re thrilled to share it with you!

While our farm isn’t open to the public (sorry, no wandering through the fields like you’re in a Taylor Swift music video), you can find us at Saturday Markets, Spring plant shows across WNC, or at our seasonal Flower Shack. We also offer online ordering during select weeks of the year—so be sure to join our email list to stay in the loop!

A Family Farm Rooted In Tradition

Barry Farms started back in 1988, when my dad, Russ, and my mom, Karen, traded the hustle of Connecticut for the rolling hills of Mills River, NC. (& before you ask— no, I’m not a Yankee, I was born right here in North Carolina, thank you very much!)

Mom worked at the post office, so Dad was the one getting his hands dirty full-time— planting, growing, & figuring out what worked best in our soil. He dabbled in shrubs and trees but found his niche in herbs. Our farm was always buzzing with green life, from the vegetable fields to the rows of flowers that I got the honor (or maybe the chore) of tending to every summer.

Saturday mornings had a rhythm of their own: Triangle Stop for a danish, then off to the Hendersonville Tailgate Market on King Street, where we sold fresh veggies & cut flowers. That market wasn’t just a place to sell— it was where I first learned what it meant to be a farmer.
